The delegation of the BiH Ministry of Communications and Transport, headed by Minister Edin Forto paid a working visit to the Republic of Croatia today.

Minister Forto and Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for the Sea, Transport and Infrastructure, Oleg Butković discussed the cooperation between the two countries in the field of transport infrastructure, the construction of the Brčko-Gunja bridge and the reconstruction of road bridges, the Corridor Vc completion in both countries, issues faced by hauliers and the rail infrastructure improvement.

Minister Forto said that there is no story about cooperation which is more symbolic than the one concerning the constuction of bridges which is one of the major topics of the today's meeting.

“Bosnia and Herzegovina's road to the EU leads through Croatia, and we have to open our borders to you. Our vital task in the future period will be to speed up transport of persons, ideas and goods between Croatia and Bosnia and Herzegovina“, Minister Forto said adding that he expects cooperation and assistance but also more intensified discussions on the railway infrastructure improvement.

“We have had exceptionally good cooperation with all ministries so far, and did a really extensive work together. Today we went through everything we had done together so far as well as everything that we are going to do together sucesfully as we have been doing so far”, Minister Butković said addressing the joint projects: the Svilaj bridge and Gradiška bridge as well as the project of reconstruction of the old Brčko bridge worth 4 million euros to be financed 50%-50% by both countries.

Following the meeting, ministers Forto and Butković signed the Addendum to the Agreement between the Council of Ministers of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Government of the Republic of Croatia on the Maintenance and Reconstruction of Road Bridges on the State Border in connection to the maintenance of the Svilaj Bridge and the Bridge over the Sava River near Gradiška that were jointly built by Croatia and Bosnia and Herzegovina.
