“Remote electronic document signing will for the first time be made available to the citizens, 18 years after the adoption of the Law on Electronic Signature. Although Bosnia and Herzegovina is lagging behind the region and the EU in the digitalisation process, we try to make up with these steps for what has not been done in the previous years.

The digitalisation process in BiH has begun and the war with CIPS certificates has started. We are winning one war after another”, said the state-level Minister of Communications and Transport, Edin Forto, at the press conference of the Agency for Identification Documents, Registers and Data Exchange of Bosnia and Herzegovina held at the opening of the IDDEEA Regional Verification Office for submitting applications for issuing of qualified digital signature.

The IDDEEA Director, Almir Badnjević, recalled that a test phase was launched in February that was successfully completed, adding that: “As of yesterday, in all five IDDEEA Regional Centres (Banja Luka, Bijeljna, Mostar, Sarajevo, Bihać) BiH citizens may file applications, sign contracts and activate their own qualified digital signature which is completely valid just like any other handwritten signature”.

Minister Forto also filed an application for issuing of his qualified electronic signature and signed the contract on the provision of certification services.

IDDEEA is one of the accredited verifier in the Register of Verifiers of Bosnia and Herzegovina, all based on the SIQ certificate EIDAS 009/2023 valid until 3 November 2025.
