Deputy Minister of Communications and Transport of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Nedžad Branković participated in the virtual consultations aimed at Euro-Asian transport corridors identification and operationalization, at the invitation of the UNECE Sustainable Transport Division Director Yuwei Li and the OSCE Economic and Environment Activities Coordinator, Ambassador Vuk Žugić.

“This format of consultations is very important for Bosnia and Herzegovina so as to see where we stand with regard to the transport flows and the transport market. Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Transport Community member countries are unfortunately outside the main catchment areas of the Euro-Asian transport corridors.

This is an opportunity for us to present the way to fix our position and to increase our chances, which is by increasing work operations of the south Adriatic Sea ports Drač, Bar, Ploče, Split, Šibenik, Zadar and Rijeka, by completing the Corridor Vc as well as by further developing the Adriatioc-Ionian Corridor in terms of both road and rail transport. The more goods are received in and shipped out from the said ports, the greater are chances for transport growth of the Transport Community, including of our Bosnia and Herzegovina“, Deputy Minister said during his address.

The aim of the consultations is to provide a platform for intergovernmental and cross-sector dialogue, including public sector and academia participants, on remaining challenges for more effective Euro-Asian transport connectivity.

This event gathered governmental officials from 38 countries of the Euro-Asian transport corridor (EATL) engaged in transport corridor management, including the representatives of Ministries of transport, trade, customs and border management authorities as well as infrastructure managers and operators. Private sector representatives determining and managing freight flows and independent management experts, researchers and academia representatives also participated.
