BiH Minister of Communications and Transport, Vojin Mitrović, met today in Mostar with the FBiH Minister of Transport and Communications, Denis Lasić, with whom he discussed the construction of the Corridor Vc, Adriatic-Ionian motorway, and air traffic operations.

As noted by Minister Lasić, part of the Corridor Vc passing through the Federation of BiH is 273 kilometres long, of which 102 kilometres have been completed so far. “Currently, 38 kilometres of the motorway are under construction, with eight active construction sites. Also, the financial package for all the planned sections has been completed, except from Ovčara to Bradina” explained Minister Lasić.

Minister Mitrović informed Minister Lasić that, by the end of the year, it will be known which of the five offered sections would be chosen for the construction of the Adriatic-Ionian motorway that is to connect our country with Croatia and Italy, Montenegro, Albania and Greece.

The Adriatic-Ionian motorway through Bosnia and Herzegovina begins in Počitelj and ends in Aranđelovo near Trebinje on the border with Montenegro. The planning and project documentation envisages the total length of 110 kilometres of the motorway through the Federation of BiH and Republika Srpska.

Due to over 90% drop in air traffic caused by coronavirus pandemic, the aviation industry is also faced with the significant financial crisis. Therefore, the participants agreed on the necessity to help the BiH Agency for the Provision of Air Navigation Services in order to overcome the severe consequences of the pandemic.

Minister Mitrović noted that additional activities have been undertaken by the Ministry, that fall within its competences, in order to seek for a solution to help civil aviation institutions in ensuring the continuation of their unimpeded operation.

The Ministers expressed their satisfaction with the good-quality and successful cooperation so far, concluding that it is necessary to establish the best possible coordination between all line Ministries on all relevant issues within their respective competence.
