The participants discussed the serious consequences of the global coronavirus pandemic impact on civil aviation, presenting the information on the current situation and the preventive measures taken, over 90% drop in traffic compared to the first six months in 2019, and economic difficulties due to large decline in revenues. All of the institutions have reduced the operational costs, made budgetary rectifications and changed their financial plans for 2020 in order to maintain liquidity.
Scenarios for traffic recovery following the COVID-19 pandemic, the impact of the introduced preventive safety measures on traffic capacities, as well as business plans for 2021 were discussed, with an emphasis on maintaining the liquidity during reduced traffic periods.
Also, the infrastructure owners were asked to provide further assistance to the International Airports in order to facilitate overcoming the severe consequences of the pandemic.
Minister Mitrović noted that additional activities have been undertaken by the Ministry, that fall within its competences, in order to find a solution to help civil aviation institution in ensuring the continuation of their unimpeded operation.
Finally, the participants stressed the importance of holding such meetings and thus swiftly finding solutions to the problems faced by the civil aviation institutions in these difficult times.
