Minister of Communications and Transport of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Edin Forto, said that the Summit is a rare opportunity to discuss future: “At this Summit nobody will ask you where you were in 1991 when Tim Berners Lee invented the World Wide Web. The topics are exclusively about our future“.
During the opening ceremony, the RCC General Secretary, Majlinda Bregu, noted that the Western Balkans Digital Summit steered a qualitatively new phase in regional cooperation on digitalisation. Four years ago, at the Digital Summit we kicked start the process of roaming reductions between the Western Balkan countries and the European Union. As of this week, roaming reductions between the EU and the region entered into effect, signed last year at the EU-WB Summit Roaming Declaration” said Bregu.
The Chairwoman of the BiH Council of Ministers, Borjana Krišto, pointed out in her address that the Summit is the best opportunity to jointly explore and shape the region’s future through digital technologies and accelerated transformation of the society we are witnessing.
The two-day 6th Western Balkans Digital Summit Balkans gathered today in Sarajevo high-level government and business representatives from the region, the European Commission, business policy makers and leading experts in the field of information and communication technologies and digital integration and transformation.
