BiH Minister of Communications and Transport, Vojin Mitrović, attended the official start of works on the second section of the motorway on the Pan-European Corridor Vc.

It is a six-kilometre-long section from Kostajnica to Putnikovo brdo, also known as the “Doboj bypass". Several large structures are to be constructed on this section, such as a bridge over the Bosna river, an overpass, a ravines and two tunnels, one of which is 1,600 meters long. The project is financed with credit funds from the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, and grant funds from the European Commission have also been approved for this purpose.

As Minister Mitrović noted, Corridor Vc is an infrastructure project of immeasurable importance for BiH.

“The significance of the Corridor Vc construction is of undisputable importance as it represents the priority connection with the European corridors and the rest of the continent. The construction of each new section will accelerate the integration of Bosnia and Herzegovina into the European Union and create new business opportunities, providing new job and income opportunities” said Minister Mitrović.

The European Corridor Vc motorway through Republika Srpska is 46.6 kilometres long and its construction is divided into three sections.

The first phase refers to the section from the "Tovira" loop to the "Kostajnica" loop in the length of 5.5 kilometres. The construction of this section began in the summer of 2019, and its completion is planned for the spring of 2022. The second section is this one, the works of which we are opening today. The third section of the project refers to the direction stretching to the north, i.e. from the unlevelled loop "Tovira" from Vukosavlje, with a total length of about 36 kilometres.
