Sustainable public service as one of the preconditions for joining the EU

“The path to Europe is not possible without a sustainable public service”, the Minister of Communications and Transport of Bosnia and Herzegovina Edin Forto said after the signing of the Agreement providing the Public Broadcasting Service of BiH with KM 4 million based on the decision of the Council of Ministers of BiH, adding that Bosnia and Herzegovina must fulfil what the European Union requires of it in terms of legislation alignment.

BHRT General Director, Belmin Karamehmedović, noted that this assistance from the Council of Ministers of BiH is of exceptional significance for the BHRT, emphasising the great efforts by Minister Forto in bringing it to an end.

As a reminder, by the decision of the Council of Ministers of Bosnia and Herzegovina, as proposed by Minister Forto, KM 4 million have been ensured for the Public Broadcasting Service of BiH for studio and production capacities for the HD resolution signal production, and KM 3 million to each Entity Governments for the development for fostering electronic media sector.
