BiH Minister of Communications and Transport, Vojin Mitrović, attended the High Level Ministerial Meeting within the 4th Western Balkans Digital Summit held in Podgorica.

On this occasion, Minister Mitrović stressed that Bosnia and Herzegovina supports regional economic development by making efforts in digital transformation and striving for better digital connectivity within the region.

“For the sake of all citizens in the Western Balkans, it is necessary to ensure better social and economic prosperity, protect consumers, raise the level of market competitiveness and transparency, and increase market competition. Our gathering today and endorsement to the Declaration on Free Flow of Data and the Declaration on Interoperability in the Western Balkans opens the door to better regional cooperation and improvement of the digital transformation processes.

As for the reduction of roaming costs between the EU and the Western Balkans, a solution needs to be found that will be acceptable to all sides. This includes prior clear and accurate analyses, timely investments in infrastructure and accompanying appropriate regulatory framework” said Minister Mitrović.

The aim of the 2021 Digital Summit is to present and exchange good practices in the Western Balkans, highlighting the development and the achievements of the Digital Agenda, defining future directions and exploring the possibilities for building partnerships with private sector in the context of digital transformation processes.

The Summit, as one of the most important regional digitalisation-related events, brings together high-level regional government representatives, European Commission, Regional Cooperation Council (RCC), business community, Chambers of Commerce (KIF ZB6), civil society organisations and public concerned.
