BiH Minister of Communications and Transport, Vojin Mitrović, met in Sarajevo with the Ambassador of Turkey to BiH, Haldun Koç, to discuss the continuation and acceleration of the Belgrade – Sarajevo – Belgrade construction project implementation.

The reason for the meeting was signing of the Agreement between the Council of Ministers of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Government of the Republic of Turkey on the Cooperation in Infrastructure and Construction Projects that will include this project as well. As planned, the Agreement will be singed in Ankara by the Chair of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Milorad Dodik, and the President of the Republic of Turkey, Recep Tayyip Erdogan.

They also discussed the Corridor Vc, the possibility of signing an Agreement on Mutual Recognition and Exchange of Driving Licenses between the BiH Council of Ministers and the Government of the Republic of Turkey, as well as the Memorandum of Understanding between the Bosnia and Herzegovina Civil Aviation Directorate and the General Directorate of Civil Aviation of the Republic of Turkey.

Ambassador Koç reiterated that Turkey remains fully behind its promise to support a motorway construction project to connect the capitals of BiH and Serbia, as evidenced by the signing of an Agreement between BiH Presidency Chairman Dodik and President Erdogan.

Minister Mitrović once again thanked the Turkish Ambassador for his support in this project, emphasising that the construction of the motorway is very important for the relations between BiH, Serbia and Turkey, as well as for better connectivity and economic development of the entire region.

Expressing his satisfaction with the acceleration of the construction of the motorway section from Kuzmin to Bijeljina, Minister Mitrović noted that the BiH Ministry of Communications and Transport will do its best to remove all administrative obstacles in order to begin with the construction of the motorway from Bijeljina to Sarajevo and the expressway from Sarajevo to Višegrad and the border crossing with Serbia.
