BiH Minister of Communications and Transport, Vojin Mitrović, met today in Mostar with the FBiH Minister of Transport and Communications, Denis Lasić. The reason for this meeting is the meeting with the Ambassador of the Republic of Turkey to BiH, Haldun Koç that will take place tomorrow with the focus on the continuation and the acceleration of the Belgrade – Sarajevo – Belgrade Motorway construction project.

Minister Lasić informed Minister Mitrović about the pace of the ongoing works on the part of the Motorway through the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina. The plan of the Public Company Autoceste FBiH in 2021 is to develop the main project of the Motorway section Tuzla – Orašje. The process of harmonisation of the terms of reference and the preliminary design with the Tuzla Canton spatial plan are currently underway, followed by the tendering procedure for the project design services for the above section.

Minister Mitrović thanked Minister Lasic for information, noting that this is not the Ministry’s project, but our common project.

“This route passes through both Entities and represents an important project that we need to work on together in order to complete it. Let me reiterate that the construction of the Sarajevo – Belgrade Motorway is significant for the acceleration of the region’s development” said Minister Mitrović.

Information was exchanged during the meeting on further activities on the construction of the Corridor Vc Motorway, in particular the stages that are currently in the designing phase and securing of financial resources. They both concluded that such activities need to be accelerated in order to connect with modern road links the entire BiH with the EU countries.

Minister Mitrović also stressed the importance of the construction of the Corridor Vc Motorway through Republika Srpska and its connection with the Belgrade – Sarajevo Motorway, thus connecting Banja Luka and Belgrade with a modern road.

It was also reiterated that other routes imply that the connecting point between Bosnia and Herzegovina and Serbia will be in Vardište near Višegrad. There are two alternative solutions for the route from Sarajevo to Vardište that are currently being agreed on between the Entities.

Following detailed analysis, the Ministers concluded that intensive activities are carried out on the construction of the Corridor Vc Motorway section and that a total of 92 km of the Motorway on this Corridor has been constructed and put into operation, while four additional sections (Svilaj – Odžak, Drivuša – Klopče, Klopče – Donja Gračanica and part of subsection Donja Gračanica –Zenica Tunnel in the total length of 21.43 km) have been completed and will become operational following the fulfilment of required conditions.
