The development of transport infrastructure (Hum – Šćepan Polje, new bridge over the Tara river, joint border crossings), international bilateral carriage of passengers and goods, and the exchange of good practices and experiences between the two countries were in the focus of today’s discussion.
As noted by Minister Mitrović, the most important matter at this point of time is the connection between Sarajevo and Podgorica, adding that the construction of a bridge over the Tara river between Bosnia and Herzegovina and Montenegro is one of the most significant joint projects that requires signing of an international agreement at the Ministerial meeting to be held in Slovenia this July.
“We are here to help the citizens of Montenegro and Bosnia and Herzegovina, but also to the countries of the region, to facilitate in the easiest and simplest way their needs for the transport of passengers and goods by building road infrastructure” said Minister Mitrović.
The Ministers agreed to begin, as soon as possible, the construction of the Tara bridge with the integrated border crossing that, along with other border crossings between the two countries, will be operated as a one-stop-shop that will largely accelerate and facilitate the communication.
“A precondition for a good road communication is in its safety that would speed up the exchange of goods and arrival of people into BiH and Montenegro. Joint infrastructure projects are those that may revive countries’ economies, as transport and seafaring certainly do” said Minister Bojanić, adding that the construction of a bridge over the Tara river will contribute to better neighbourly relations between the two countries.
