Minister Mitrović expressed his satisfaction with today's exercise, emphasizing that a high degree of readiness, training and coordination of all participants was shown.
This international exercise was attended by the EUFOR Multinational Battalion, Sarajevo Airport Border Police Anti-Bomb Team, members of the Security and Protection Sector, and the Transport and Air Services Sector of the Sarajevo International Airport, the Rescue and Fire Service and the Emergency Medical Service of Sarajevo Airport and members of SIPA and OSA. Also, as part of the exercise, the State Crisis Team was convened, which gave approval to the law enforcement agencies to begin resolving the hostage situation.
In addition to Minister Mitrović, the exercise was also attended by the BiH Minister of Security, Selmo Cikotić, and the BiH Minister of Defense, Sifet Podžić, EUFOR Commander, Reinhard Trischak, SIPA Director, Darko Ćulum, Director of the BiH Directorate for Coordination of Police Bodies, Mirsad Vilić, Chief Prosecutor of the BiH Prosecutor's Office, Gordana Tadić, and representatives of OSA, BiH Border Police, Air Navigation Services Agency of Bosnia and Herzegovina (BHANSA), Directorate of Civil Aviation of Bosnia and Herzegovina (BHDCA) and others.
The Sarajevo Airport has been taking part in the exercise for the last four years, and the aim of today's simulation is to train the management and the executive staff in crisis management, to check the adopted regulations, plans and procedures for this type of crisis and to test the information systems and the coordination of the activities between the responsible bodies.
This is a regular annual exercise of the BiH Armed Forces, BiH law enforcement agencies and EUFOR, the aim of which is to exercise, within a realistic scenario, the ability of EUFOR to call upon its reserve forces as reinforcements and provide support to local authorities in maintaining a secure and stable situation.
