At the invitation of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina, the Minister of Communications and Transport of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Vojin Mitrović, was part of the BiH’s delegation during its official visit to the Republic of Turkey, together with the Chair of the BiH Presidency, Milorad Dodik, members of the BiH Presidency, Željko Komšić and Šefik Džaferović, as well as the BiH Ambassador to the Republic of Turkey, H.E. Adis Alagić.

On this occasion, Minister Mitrović signed the Agreement between the Council of Ministers of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Government of the Republic of Turkey on the Cooperation in Infrastructure and Construction Projects and the Agreement between the Council of Ministers of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Government of the Republic of Turkey on Mutual Recognition and Exchange of Driving Licences.

Minister Mitrović noted that the Republic of Turkey had expressed its aspirations for a better inclusion of the South East European area and the Western Balkan countries into the EU transport network adding that particular emphasis in his Ministry is placed on better regional transport and transport infrastructure connectivity.

“The signing of the Agreement between the Council of Ministers of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Government of the Republic of Turkey on the Cooperation in Infrastructure and Construction Projects is considered as a good basis for the continuation of the activities on the construction of the Sarajevo – Belgrade – Sarajevo motorway. The road networks in Bosnia and Herzegovina and Serbia will thus be improved, the capitals Sarajevo and Belgrade will be connected and ultimately better regional connectivity with the Republic of Turkey will be achieved” said Minister Mitrović.

Minister Mitrović also signed the Agreement on Mutual Recognition and Exchange of Driving Licenses, saying that the main argument for its conclusion was to enable citizens from one country who possess a driving licence to apply, during their legal stay in the other country, for its replacement with the driving license of that country, without the obligation to take theoretical and practical part of the driving test.

Tomorrow, Minister Mitrović, together with members of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Željko Komšić and Šefik Džaferović, will attend a working lunch with representatives of the Foreign Economic Relations Committee of the Republic of Turkey (DEIK).
