Minister Mitrović informed the Huawei representatives about efforts made by the Ministry, in cooperation with domestic and international partners, to adopt new legislation, but also strategic documents required for reaching a desired objective which is to enable for business operations in or outside BiH to be performed simpler and faster.
“Unfortunately, according to all indexes used for monitoring the state of digitalization in the world, Bosnia and Herzegovina is ranked among worst countries of the region. However, Bosnia and Herzegovina on its path towards the EU and the single digital marker must fulfil certain conditions with respect to the digitalization of the society, and there lies our chance.
Given that there is no Law on Cyber Security in place in Bosnia and Herzegovina, the Ministry has launched activities on its preparation, and the law will be harmonised with the European NIS Directive. Bosnia and Herzegovina is at early stage of digital society development going hand in hand with the cyber security development“, Minister Mitrović explained.
The Embassy of the People's Republic of China in Sarajevo has requested the Ministry to support the Chinese Global Initiative for data protection, and the Minister Mitrović said that the Initiative will be considered and forwarded to the competent authorities in Bosnia and Herzegovina for decision. This Initiative is a response to the American initiative concerning the trade war between the United States of America and China (Huawei) due to different cyber threats for which countries accuse each other.
