BiH Minister of Communications and Transport, Vojin Mitrović, met today with the Chairman of Executive Board of Tasyapi Company, Emrullah Turanli, on the occasion of the official visit by President of Turkey, Recep Tayyip Erdogan to Bosnia and Herzegovina.

They discussed the implementation of the Sarajevo-Belgrade-Sarajevo highway construction project, stemming from the Agreement between the Council of Ministers of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Government of the Republic of Turkey on the Cooperation in Infrastructure and Construction Projects.

The highway construction plan envisages the construction of an expressway from Sarajevo, via Pale and Višegrad, to the border with Serbia, as well as the construction of a highway from Sarajevo via Zenica, Tuzla, Brčko and Bijeljina to the BiH border with Serbia in Rača, where the plan is to construct a new bridge and a border crossing.

As emphasised at the meeting, the priority is the stage that is ready for the implementation, which is the design and construction of the Rača - Bijeljina – Brčko sections. At the moment, signing and defining a commercial contract between the Tasyapi Company and Autoputevi Republike Srpske is of essence for the project implementation.

The draft contract was forwarded to Autoputevi RS and important elements of the commercial contract are being negotiated and agreed on, such as the price and financing conditions, which will also be one of the topics of tomorrow's meeting between the BiH and Turkish Transport Ministers.

As defined by the Agreement signed in Ankara, Turkey has committed to provide funding for the implementation of the said infrastructure project.

The representatives of Tasyapi Compnay noted their readiness to begin with the realisation, design and construction of the highway section from Rača to Bijeljina immediately after signing the commercial contract.

Minister Mitrović expressed the expectation that the member of the Presidency of BiH, Milorad Dodik, would agree with President Erdogan on the credit arrangement for this project in order to begin with the implementation at the earliest convenience.
