BiH Minister of Communications and Transport, Vojin Mitrović, received a courtesy call from H.E. Mr. Igor Kalabuhov, Ambassador of the Russian Federation to Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The two discussed the improvement of bilateral cooperation between the two countries, primarily the topics related to transport and air traffic matters, and a possible increase in the contingent of bilateral licenses as well as the amendments to the Agreement on Air Transport between the Council of Ministers of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Government of the Russian Federation.

Minister Mitrović asked for Ambassador Kalabuhov’s assistance in intensifying the activities in order for the proposed amendments to the Annex of the said Agreement to be adopted, thus enabling launching of a new airline between the two countries that would significantly contribute to the economic development of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Namely, in line with Article 19 of the Agreement on Air Transport between the Council of Ministers of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Government of the Russian Federation, the Ministry has requested the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Bosnia and Herzegovina to conduct consultations with the Ministry of Transport of the Russian Federation for the purpose of accepting the amendments. The proposed amendments provide for the introduction of new points of arrival and departure, i.e. in addition to Sarajevo, Banja Luka, Tuzla and Mostar are also planned as new points of departure in Bosnia and Herzegovina, and Sheremetyevo and Saint Petersburg as points of arrival in the Russian Federation.

At the end, Minister Mitrović welcomed the Ambassador of Russia to Bosnia and Herzegovina and wished him a lot of success in his future work, especially in establishing the cooperation in the area of infrastructure, economy, and railway transport.
