The meeting was also attended by the Director of the Transport Community Secretariat, Matej Zakonjšek, and the Head of Cooperation of the EU Delegation to BiH, Richard Máša.
Minister Mitrović said that Bosnia and Herzegovina provides support to the activities carried out by the Permanent Secretariat in order to implement the obligations assumed by the Agreement on the Establishment of the Transport Community.
“Today, at this meeting, we are initiating the implementation of the Regional Action Plans for Bosnia and Herzegovina. The adoption of these plans became important, following the presentation by the European Commission early October this year of the Economic and Investment Plan for the Western Balkans, worth 9 billion euros for the period from 2021 to 2027 for investments in transport, energy, green and digital transformation.
It is up to us how we will proceed with the implementation of the obligations arising from the Action Plans, and properly use the funds provided within the Economic and Investment Plan, and on my own behalf I wish to reiterate the support for the implementation of these activities.
Finally, Minister Mitrović expressed hope for the continuation of good mutual cooperation and even better inter-institutional cooperation between the competent authorities within Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Director Zakonjšek praised the very constructive interventions by Minister Mitrović, representatives of the EU Delegation, regional authorities, representatives of the European Commission and other important actors. Today's meeting was the opportunity to raise awareness about four key documents developed by the Transport Community.
“Our action plans for roads, traffic facilitation, railway and road safety are the guidance for all important steps and milestones in order to achieve concrete goals: safer roads, reduced waiting time at border crossings, reliable and modern rails and roads of the future with integrated green and digital elements. The documents are in line with the European Commission's Economic and Investment Plan for the Western Balkans, which supports the transport and connectivity projects - such as the Gradiška bridge, the Svilaj border crossing and Corridor Vc - that will contribute to further regional integration and improved connectivity with the European Union,” said Zakonjšek.
