Minister Mitrović participated in the Ministerial panel on the Digital Agenda for the Western Balkans, and following the adoption of the Memorandum of Understanding on Regional Interoperability and Trust Services in the region of the Western Balkans and the Memorandum of Understanding on the 5G Roadmap for Digital Transformation of the Six Economies of the Western Balkans, signed the both memorandums.

Minister Mitrović commended the efforts of all colleagues coming from respective economies who, under the guidance of the Regional Cooperation Council team, had been working hard and diligently for the past few months in pursuing activities contained in the Multi-Annual Action Plan for Regional Economic Development of the Western Balkans thus developing and improving the digital integration component, as well as in organising the Digital Summit that has become a key regional IT event.

“Bosnia and Herzegovina supports regional economic development and cooperation among all six economies of the Western Balkans. I would also like to point out that the BiH Ministry of Communications and Transport has intensified and speed up its activities to create as a solid basis as possible for the quality legislation, in line with the best EU practices, to enable as quality as possible digital transformation implementation, and to keep up the pace with the technological progress and development, Minister Mitrović said, adding that today's gathering in the framework of the Digital summit 2020 and the endorsement of the foreseen memorandums open the door to a better regional cooperation and improvement of the digital integration/transformation processes.

At the closure of his address, Minister Mitrović noted that it is the citizens of the Western Balkans region who should actually benefit from developing and improving the economies and their markets and raising the level of tolerance and cooperation with the aim of ensuring a better social and economic prosperity, and that it is necessary to protect consumers, raise the level of competitiveness and transparency, increase market competition, in particular in the area of digital transformation and integration, on the basis of equality and mutual benefit, in order to prevent the migration of young skilled human resources.

Minister Mitrovic had a bilateral meeting with the Minister of Public Administration of Montenegro, Suzana Pribilović, to discuss the Memorandums to be signed, electronic signature and the situation caused by the coronavirus pandemic.

Western Balkans Digital Summit is a part of the Multi-Annual Action Plan for Regional Economic Area endorsed by the leaders from the region in Trieste in 2017. The Summit builds on the experience of the high-level regional dialogue on digital transformation in the framework of the Berlin process.
