BiH Minister of Communications and Transport, Vojin Mitrović, held a working meeting with the Principal Deputy High Representative and the Supervisor for the Brčko District, Michael Scanlan, to discuss the reconstruction of the Brčko-Gunja bridge, construction of the Sarajevo – Belgrade motorway, reactivation of railway goods transport and revitalisation of the Public Company “Port of Brčko”.

They agreed that defining an agreement between BiH and Croatia is a prerequisite for the construction of the bridge, which is a precondition for designing and the reconstruction itself.

In terms of construction of the Sarajevo – Belgrade motorway, the Brčko Government will define the route of the future motorway by 15 December, after which parcelling, expropriation and designing procedures, as well as the construction of the motorway passing through the Brčko district in the total length of 30km, will be initiated.

Deputy High Representative Scanlan expressed readiness to maximise assistance in the implementation of these projects and informed Minister Mitrović of the projects that are currently under preparation, such as cleaning up of the Sava riverbed to establish navigation and putting into operation the Port of Brčko, preceded by the demining procedure.
