BiH Minister of Communications and Transport, Vojin Mitrović, paid an official visit to the Ministry of Construction, Transport and Infrastructure of the Republic of Serbia where he met with the Deputy Prime Minister of the Government of the Republic of Serbia and Minister of Construction, Transport and Infrastructure, Zorana Mihajlović.



In an open and friendly meeting the discussion was about the implementation of the joint road and railway infrastructure projects and the reconstruction of bridges between the two countries with particular reference to the construction of the border-crossing and full operation of the bridge between Bratunac and Ljubovija.    

Special attention was paid to the construction of the Belgrade – Sarajevo – Belgrade Motorway. Minister Mihajlović said that the construction of the section from Sremska Rača to Kuzmin is proceeding according to planned dynamics and announced that the construction of the second ring, the section from Požega to Kotroman, could begin in 2021.  

Noting that the Government of Serbia is the first Government outside BiH that he paid a visit to, Minister Mitrović expressed special gratitude to the Republic of Serbia which endorsed financing the construction of the Sava Bridge on the Belgrade - Sarajevo highway. Minister Mitrović also thanked the President of Serbia, Aleksandar Vučić, for significant assistance to Republika Srpska, thus providing assistance to the entire BiH as well.



Completion of the border-crossing at the Bratunac - Ljubovija bridge by the end of this year or early next year was announced. The reconstruction of bridges between the two countries was also discussed as well as future activities related to these projects.

A common interest was expressed for the reconstruction and construction of railway between Belgrade and Sarajevo, which was assessed as a very significant project for improving economic connection between Serbia and BiH and the entire region.

It was agreed to intensify cooperation and to establish a joint operational team to monitor and accelerate the implementation of all on-going infrastructure projects.
