In an open and friendly discussion, Minister Mitrović informed Ambassador Ivancov about the pace of the implementation of the Belgrade – Sarajevo – Belgrade motorway construction and the construction of the Corridor Vc motorway that will connect Banja Luka and Doboj with Bijeljina and Belgrade.
Ambassador Ivancov said that the Russian Federation supports the implementation of these projects. Minister Mitrović and Ambassador Ivancov assessed that the construction of the Belgrade – Sarajevo – Belgrade motorway is of great significance for establishing stronger regional connectivity and economic cooperation as well as the stability in the entire region.
They also talked about the possibilities for improving the International Road Transport Agreement that was signed a decade ago between the BiH Council of Ministers and the Government of the Russian Federation. Intensifying contacts between the representatives of the two countries was agreed with the aim of amending the Agreement for the purpose of improving the flow of goods and capital and exchange of services.
Minister Mitrović informed Ambassador Ivancov about the initiative of the BiH Ministry of Communications and Transport to extend the existing Air Transport Agreement between BiH and the Russian Federation and opening new airlines so that, in addition to Sarajevo, the cities of Banja Luka, Mostar and Tuzla would become connected with the Moscow Airport Sheremetyevo and the city of St. Petersburg.
It was concluded that the activities on the implementation of this initiative should be accelerated with the aim of improving the current economic cooperation between Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Russian Federation.
