“The construction of the cross-border bridge over the Sava River near Gradiška will be completed within the agreed deadline, by end of May; however it will be put into operation after two years, as the connecting road on the Croatian side is due to be completed at that time," said Minister Mitrovic expressing his satisfaction with the pace of the works, despite previous difficulties caused by the pandemic and the current crisis in the procurement of energy and construction materials.
At the meeting held today by the Minister with the RS Minister of Physical Planning, Construction and Ecology, Srebrenka Golić, also attended by the RS Minister of Transport and Communications, Nedeljko Ćorić, it was agreed that the competent institutions will prepare everything needed for the technical acceptance and issuing of use permit for the new bridge at the earliest convenience. Also, Minister Mitrović will soon organise a meeting between BiH Ministers and the Minister of the Sea, Transport and Infrastructure of the Republic of Croatia, Oleg Butković, and the Minister of Physical Planning, Construction and State Property Ivan, Paladin, to speed up the process of obtaining a use permit issued by the Ministry of Physical Planning, Construction and State Assets of the Republic of Croatia.
“It is one of the most significant projects in BiH at this moment, and the construction of the bridge will contribute to reducing traffic congestions in the centre of Gradiška and relocating the interstate transport of goods and passengers to the new border crossing” said Minister Mitrović, adding that the Ministry will request quick response to the initiative put forward at the Ministerial Meeting of the Transport Community in Ljubljana last year regarding the construction of a joint border crossing on the BiH side.
Director of RS Autoputevi, Dušan Topić, noted on the importance of taking quick decision about the construction of a single border crossing in order to avoid the situation where the access road would be completed before the border crossing.
The Chief Engineer, Marko Lović, said that waterproofing of the steel construction is currently underway, and that the installation of asphalt, fences and traffic signals is expected to begin in the coming days.
