“Based on clear economic parameters, it is time to change our way of thinking and expectations that we are still the country that expects donor’s funds for its crucial development project. We must turn to our own capacities, European and international funds and grants used by developed countries in Europe and the rest of the world”, said Minister of Communications and Transport, Edin Forto, at his meeting with Akihiko Nishio, World Bank Vice President of Development Finance and IDA Funds.

It was jointly concluded that the said progress of Bosnia and Herzegovina is the indicator of the country’s economic progress. Nishio stressed that, from a donor beneficiary country, Bosnia and Herzegovina has become a donor country to the International Donors Association, thus becoming a symbol of success among IDA member states.

In July this year, Bosnia and Herzegovina will jointly mark the 20th anniversary of the reconstruction of the Old Bridge in Mostar, one of many projects through which the World Bank invested some USD 3 billion in the post-war period in BiH.

The meeting was held in Washington within the framework of the Spring Meeting of the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank Group at which Minister Forto is heading the delegation of Bosnia and Herzegovina as Deputy Governor of BiH in the World Bank.
