Construction of a bridge and access roads towards the Hum – Šćepan Polje border crossing is our common priority, confirmed the Minister of Communications and Transport of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Edin Forto, and the Minister of Transport and Communications of Republika Srpska, Nedeljko Čubrilović, at today’s meeting held in Sarajevo.

Bosnia and Herzegovina has allocated funds for the construction of the bridge, efforts have been intensified together with the Ministry of Transport and Communications of RS and the Government of Montenegro to secure funds for the construction and reconstruction of access roads on both sides of the border.

The condition of the road is disastrous, and it serves as the main road connecting the two capitals, Sarajevo and Podgorica. A significant progress was made with regards to completing the documentation and the activities with the aim of securing funds for the road construction, the commencement of which I expect during my mandate. Existence of political will on all sides that should take part in the construction is encouraging, both the Montenegrin side and our side, including the Entity and state level – said Minister Forto.

Changes to the spatial plan of the Brčko District, on which the construction of the two highways depend (Tuzla – Orašje and Doboj – Bijeljina) and a new Brčko – Gunja bridge, were also discussed in the meeting.
